About Grapevine

Grapevine is a suburban city with about 54,000 residents. It is located in northeast Tarrant County, with parts in Dallas and Denton Counties. The majority of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is located in Grapevine; its opening contributed to the city’s growth beginning in the 1970’s. Grapevine Lake is another popular attraction, as is the massive Grapevine Mills indoor mall, the Great Wolf Lodge, and the Gaylord Texan Hotel.

In 1843, General Sam Houston and his associates camped at Tah-Wah-Karro Creek, then called Grape Vine Springs, to meet with leaders of 10 Indian nations. They signed a peace treaty that opened the area for homesteaders. The resulting settlement was named Grape Vine in honor of the wild grapes that grew all around it. The settlement grew into a town, and the name was altered to Grapevine in 1914.

Conveniently located near major interstate highways, Grapevine is known today for its central location that gives it easy access to Fort Worth, Southlake, Denton, and beyond. Always looking for ways to improve residents’ quality of life, Grapevine is open to modern energy solutions like solar panels.

The Weather in Grapevine

While Grapevine is subject to the same volatile storms as the rest of North Texas in the spring and early summer, it is a warm and sunny location for most of the year. Daytime temperatures range from 35 degrees in the winter months to 96 in the summer. Temperatures in July and August sometimes break into the triple digits.

Grapevine has many more sunny days than the national average. It gets between 10 and 14 hours of daylight each day, with most days tending toward 12 or 13 hours. That makes it a perfect candidate for solar panel installation. If you have a solar panel array installed on your rooftop in Grapevine, you can expect to get more than enough sunlight to power your home.
